Commission an Original

For collectors drawn to Peter’s color, character, and imagination, a commissioned watercolor begins as a conversation. Share the subject, scale, meaningful details, and the feeling you want the finished piece to carry. From there, Peter interprets the idea in his own visual language, creating an original work that feels personal while remaining unmistakably his.

Created in Peter’s Voice

A commission is not a copy of an existing painting or a literal reproduction of a photograph. It is a new watercolor shaped by a collector’s idea and filtered through Peter’s imagination. Animals, Western stories, horses, aspens, beloved places, and character-filled moments can all become starting points when the subject fits the spirit of his work.

How the Process Works

Start the Conversation
Share your idea, preferred size, timeline, and any meaningful details or reference images.

Shape the Direction
Peter considers the subject, composition, color direction, and whether the idea is a natural fit for his watercolor style.

Create the Original
Once the commission is confirmed, Peter begins the painting. Each finished work is an original watercolor created with his distinctive sense of color, story, and imagination.

What to Share

When reaching out, include the subject you have in mind, the preferred size or placement, your timeline, and any story behind the idea. Commission availability is limited, and each request is considered individually to ensure the finished piece feels aligned with Peter’s work.

Created for the Space It Will Live In

Whether the finished work is intended for a home, office, or meaningful personal space, scale and placement are part of the conversation. Peter considers not only the subject, but the feeling the artwork should bring into the room.

Begin the Conversation

Peter will review the request, consider timing and creative fit, and follow up with possible next steps.

From Collectors

  • You know how people ask what you would grab if your house was on fire? Honestly, I would grab all the members of my family and a custom painting by the amazing Pete Freischlag. It is a beautiful painting and memory of my husband and kiddos biking through Waterton Canyon in Colorado.

  • Peter’s art is truly enjoyed on a daily basis in our Lodge. I remember when he asked us for a photo of our dogs and he painted and captured the essence of our happy German Shorthaired Pointers. Its been almost a decade and the quality of the finish on “Doc’s Dogs I and II” remains brand new in appearance. So proud to display his masterful works.
